You’re My Obsession: January 9-15, 2012

As you might have expected, this week’s obsession list is highly Alt focused. I can’t believe I’ll be there on Wednesday night!

Staying at The Grand America Hotel

Wow.

Altitude Design Summit will be held at The Grand America Hotel. It looks ahmahzing, and I’m looking forward to my three days and nights of luxury.

P.S. They have a patisserie!

Newish (To Me) Bloggers That I’m Looking Forward To Meeting

There are so many people that I’m looking forward to meeting at Alt Summit. Like, everyone on this list who’s going to be there, for starters.

I’ve talked a lot about my long-time favorites, but I may not have mentioned some of the cool bloggers that I found in the last few months that I’m looking forward to meeting in person at the big event. Like these guys.

Alix and Dottie (Modern Kiddo) · Blog Brunch pals · Bradford at (The Bedlam of Beefy) · Brittni (papernstitch) · Cassandra (coco + kelley) · Helena (Bye Bye, Bitters) · Jill (TerraSavvy) · Leslie (Lights and Letters) · Tammie (Tam.Me.)

I also can’t wait to meet the ladies of Kirtsy & Blogstar (Gabrielle of Design Mom, Laura of Blog Con Queso, and Laurie of LEAP Design/UpsideUp, and Sarah Bryden Brown of Blogstar).

And of course, there are TONS more.

Elliot Circle Bird Necklace from Calliope Boutique

If you want to win things, you should become a blogger.

Because I am a blogger, I read a lot of blogs, which leads me to find out about a lot of cool giveaways and contests, which leads me to winning sometimes. My latest win is this adorable lovebird necklace from Calliope Boutique.

I won this by participating in the December Blog Brunch, this awesome Twitter event that happens on the first Saturday of every month. If you’re a blogger looking for tips and new friends, you should join us.

Dooce

Dooce is one of the first blogs that I read regularly. I was living in L.A. and thinking about what it would be like to maybe have a baby someday, so I started reading Heather’s blog. Thanks, husband, for introducing me to Dooce.

And now, yay!, Heather is going to be speaking at Alt on one of the panels that I’m interested in attending (as is aforementioned Sarah Bryden Brown), What Can Small Sites Learn from Big Online Communities. Sigh…it’s at the same time as From Blog to Book, also with awesome people that I’d really like to learn from. They force you to make the tough choices at Alt!

Lytro

Have you guys met Lytro? I would love to add this beauty to my photography toolbox.

With the compact Lytro, you shoot first and focus later. You can constantly change the focal point of your photos after the fact. Plus, it’s small, light (less than 8 ounces!), and extremely stylish.

Check out some of the photos taken with a Lytro. So cool. WANT!
