Wanted: Desk Designed for Creative Work

I am officially desk obsessed.

Sometime after I turned a small corner of our bedroom into my office I started thinking about getting a new desk. The problem? Most of the desks I like are either way beyond my budget, don’t physically exist, or would take up way too much room in my small bedoffice. Note to self: Ask Drew how he feels about sleeping on a large, awesome desk.

I love the concept of the Worknest by Polish designer Wiktoria Lenart.

I love the thought of being able to customize my own desk with spaces for all the stuff I like to have surrounding me when I create things.

The Landa Desk by Samuel Accoceberry for Alki is amazing. It has storage inside the desk and a place to hide all of those annoying cords.

I need room for my computer and a space for doing that type of work, and I need a separate area for spreading out papers, magazine tearings, art supplies, and working on collages.

My space is weird in that it’s not a true corner. It’s more like a reflex angle, so I can’t have a traditional L-shaped desk.

Note to everyone: I just used MATH!

Drew came up with the idea of getting two separate desks or tables. My friend Leslie set up her studio the same way. So on one of my weird walls I want a very simple desk or table for a computer workstation, and I want to put a drafting table on the other wall. If you have any ideas for well-made reasonably priced desks or tables like this, please let me know!

I’ve collected some of my favorite studios and workspaces on Pinterest. Here are a few that I love.

Sigh.
