Inspiration: STILL Blog by Mary Jo Hoffman

Recently I got caught up on one of my favorite blogs, Mary Jo Hoffman’s STILL. I love the “simple” creativity of each post. She gathers items from nature and styles and photographs them on a white background. She only shares one image per post along with a thoughtful paragraph. Her work is consistent and stunning.

Recently Mary Jo wrote a lovely post about the importance of writing down your goals, hopes, dreams, etc. She shares her story of writing, “I would like a textile line based on STILL images” on one of her Instagram posts. This led to a meeting with Target. Still waiting to find out what happens next, but WOW, that’s amazing and awesome, no matter the outcome.

I truly believe that there is power in writing things down, and not just where people can see them.

Writing down your aspirations will help you do what is necessary to get where you want to be. You get there by having a vision, acquiring the skills to back it up, producing the work, and being consistent. You’re mindful about your process and your goals. Then, sometimes along the way and always when you’re done, you put it out there, into the universe and in front of the people that can help you make your dreams a reality.
