My Style: Casual Traveler

Casual Traveler Mixed Media Collage by Melanie Biehle

It’s been a while since I’ve done any graphic design work for myself and created a fashion post, so today is the day! While I was packing for my trip to Iceland and Germany, I noticed that my wardrobe really does have a theme, and I think I chose a pretty good name to describe it – Casual Traveler. I’ve started collecting some ideas for looks and adding them to my personal style fashion board on Pinterest and created a mini lookbook here to describe what Casual Traveler means to me.

Casual Traveler is a look that’s inspired by the city, but also relaxed – so, a city like Berlin. Granted, I spend most of my days working from home in pajamas and am currently most interested in buying a pair of mahabis, but when I do get out for client meetings, travel, and creative exploring around Seattle, this is a version of how I like to dress.

Here are some of the things that I either want, or already own and wear that fit with my Casual Traveler look.

Zelm Bootie at Moorea Seal

Prairie Underground Glove Legging in Black

Hye Park and Lune Noah Cardigan

Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars in Black

Scarves from Block Shop and Scarf Shop

Ballet Flats by Tieks

Hye Park and Lune Capella Dress

P.S. Hye Park and Lune uses some of the softest fabric ever! I wear my red, white, and blue Capella Dress as a tunic. It’s a great layering piece for fall.

While I spent plenty of time living in Los Angeles and wearing shoes that were made for valet parking, nowadays the most important quality of the clothes that I wear are that they have to be comfortable. I look for the softest fabrics that I can find and clothing that is super easy to care for. If I’m not comfortable wearing them while I’m on the go, then I’m not interested. If they’re dry clean only, I don’t have time for them any more.

If you know any fashion brands that I should check out that fit with my newly defined look, send me an email and let me know! If you work with a creative brand and are looking for someone to art direct or design your lookbook, you can email me about that too.

Have a great week! xo
