The Deep is a moody abstract pastel drawing inspired by the sea. I absolutely loved making this piece! I love the subtlety of the changes in color of the blues and greens and how they contrast (yet smoothly blend in) with black. It makes for a contemplative feel.
I’m really enjoying working with pastels lately, despite the mess. I tend to use my fingers for blending rather than stumps or rags. I like the way it feels – then hate to clean it up later. You can see some of my other pastel drawings in my portfolio and on Instagram.
