Some Paintings I Said Goodbye To

Hello, again. I’m back! Like I said in my welcome to 2017 post, it feels kind of weird to be writing here again. But I really REALLY want to be here, so I’m going to push through the awkwardness and get back into the groove. It kind of feels like when you bump into that really good friend that you haven’t seen in a long time and it feels kind of weird for a little while, but once you’re chatting again it’s like you never left college. Or something like that.

Last year I was lucky enough to get to create some awesome paintings that now have new forever homes. Here are just a few of my favorite pieces that I said goodbye to in 2016.

Homesick | Nomads #4 by Melanie Biehle | First Christmas away. Feeling the distance. Too many time zones. Would trade this entire month for one hug from her. Can’t make the wedding. Staying in bed all day. Hanging out at Starbucks. Missing my sister’s 30th birthday celebration. Missing my dog. I want to go home.

If you’d like to collaborate with me to create your own custom work of art, here’s how we can work together.

ART COMMISSION PROCESS

1. Email me at melanie@melaniebiehle.com to get started!

Let me know what type of art you’d like to purchase (e.g., abstract cityscape or a more “flowy” type of abstract) and what it will be used for (e.g., a painting for your home, a painting for your interior design client, a gift for someone…).

Tell me if you have an idea of what colors you’d like, or what you’d like the main color to be. And if there are any colors that you hate, be sure to let me know that too!

Include an estimate of how large you want the painting to be.

And lastly, point me to a couple of examples of my work that you really like so I can have an idea about the style of art that you’re looking to own.

2. Once I learn more about the artwork you need I will give you a price quote. If you’re looking for a large piece, I will optimize shipping costs by using an easy to ship and reassemble collapsible stretched canvas or shipping an unstretched canvas rolled in a tube that you can have stretched by your local art or frame shop.

3. After we have agreed on budget and scope of work, I will invoice you for 50% of the total fee. After I receive payment, I will create a mood board based on the artwork that I think you’d love based on our discussions. I use this tool to explore artistic styles, emotion, and color palettes to make sure that we are visually on the same page.

4. Once I begin working on your painting I can send you email updates as I move forward with completing your artwork. I’ll send you a final photo for you to approve, then your final invoice. Once I receive final payment your painting will be on its way home to you.

It’s that simple! Let me know if you have any questions at all about the process or if you’d like to work more closely together on developing an idea for your customized art. I’d be more than happy to chat with you and help you along the way.
