Things I’m Afraid To Tell You

Okay.

First of all, I’m sure some of you are like, what could she possibly be afraid to tell us? And the truth is, I’m not really sure that I am “afraid” to tell you anything. I’ve already shared stories of:

* My diary when I was 10

* The death of my brother/my fear of losing my husband and child, including a poem

* The time when Hollywood killed my desire to create

* Divorce

* Miscarriage – part one, two, and the resulting “maybe I’m just not supposed to have a kid” post

* The birth of my son

* Postpartum depression

* Not liking every single thing about motherhood

* An actual essay that I wrote when I was certain I’d never want to have a child

* How much I would suck at being a “stay-at-home” mom

* How much it can suck to try to do everything

* And yet more sucking…this time at crafts

* My vision board

People…I even blogged my anniversary this year!

When this post first started making the rounds through the blogosphere, I was certain I’d never participate in it. One, I just really don’t feel like I have much to say here. Secondly, I don’t want to seem like I’m digging up things to say just to take part in this movement that “all the bloggers” are doing.

That is exactly what I told my friend Leslie when she asked me to join her in this round. She suggested I remind you of the things I’ve already shared with you (see above), as well as pointed me to Anne Sage’s awesome post where she reveals that she was afraid to write it because she didn’t want to do what everyone else was doing. And I get that part. I’ve never really wanted to do whatever everyone else was doing either, even though I think what Jess started, EZ organized, and Meg and Leslie continued is awesome.

So, why write this post? Honestly, because Leslie asked me to. And I love Leslie. :) And Sarah wrote an awesome one and asked other Blogstars if we were planning to do one too. And I love Sarah. :) So, here I am. And I know that if you’re reading this, you want to know at least one secret that I haven’t revealed. So I started thinking, and looking through old blog posts, and thinking again. Here’s what I’ve come up with.

Anything that I don’t reveal to you must really be none of your business.

But not because I don’t love you (xoxo). I’m a tremendously open person, and I will share almost anything. Almost. Not to sound too much like a CW drama, but everyone has insecurities, fears, secrets, or skeletons. Or graveyards. And I don’t mind sharing. But there are times when it’s necessary to keep things to myself.

If I’m not writing about something, that probably means that it falls into one or more of these three categories:

* I don’t think you’d get anything out of it.

* If I shared it, it could be revealing about myself but would hurt other people.

* It’s just not my story to tell.

Now that I’ve managed to commit to continue being open with you while maintaining a little bit of mystery, I’d like to share who the other bloggers are that are participating in today’s round of Things I’m Afraid To Tell You. Be sure to check out what they have to say! xoxo
