NaNoWriMo 2013: Don’t You…Forget About Me

Don't You Forget About Me Sketchbook Project 2012

Stella Peregrine met the love of her life in Los Angeles when she was 37 years old. At age 39 he asked her to marry him. She said yes and went to sleep happy. The next morning she woke up in her high school bedroom in the small town she grew up in. No, her adult life and marriage proposal wasn’t a dream. Stella was 15 years old…again.

What happens when a grown woman travels through time and has to do it all over again? Find out how Stella learns to navigate her past and present and searches for her one true love in a world where iPhones haven’t been invented and all the TV shows are reruns.

This is a brief synopsis of Don’t You…Forget About Me – the novel that has been in my head for years.

I started it TODAY. This year I’m participating in National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo as fans know it. Here’s my official novel page where you can read an excerpt. I’ll be updating the word count in my quest to complete 50,000 words by the end of November.

Don't You Forget About Me Sketchbook Project 2012-2

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you might remember when I used my entry for The Sketchbook Project 2012 to plan this novel. I’m doing some new collages to accompany it, both as a method to help me plan what I’m going to write and as artwork for the finished novel.

The first time I attempted to write a novel was back in 1996, at the same time I became a newlywed and started my psychology Masters program. No pressure. Needless to say, I didn’t finish it. But this time I’m ready. The words are pouring out of my head and onto the page.

I’m determined to tell this story.

I’m MEANT to tell this story.

My time travel and all-things-teenage-girl obsessions have dictated it all along.

I hope you’ll join me for the ride! xo
