Painting Transformation: Two New Works Inspired by a Morning in Corfu
Wandering the Old Fortress in Corfu, Greece | October 2025
Traveling to Greece arrived at exactly the right moment. I was slowly finding my creative rhythm again, and what I thought would simply be a beautiful trip turned into something deeper: an invitation to be fully present and explore what truly moves me.
One quiet morning in Corfu, I wandered the Old Fortress almost entirely alone. The ancient tiles beneath my feet were weathered, cracked, and worn by centuries of footsteps — yet completely beautiful, glowing in the morning light. I kept wondering what they looked like when they were new, and why I was so drawn to their imperfections.
Back in my Seattle studio, the memory of that morning stayed with me. The colors and light I’d noticed on the tiles naturally informed my choices on canvas. But as I worked, I realized something unexpected: I wasn’t painting the travel scene, or even the tiles themselves.
I was painting transformation.
Layer by layer, washes of color and textured surfaces revealed the quiet unfolding of inner change — the spaces where I’ve allowed more of myself to shine through.
The Shape of Time and Shine Beyond Your Edges were born from that morning in Corfu, yet they speak to something much more personal: the beauty in becoming, and the courage of letting yourself expand beyond who you were before.
Both paintings are now available as part of my Studio Collection, ready for shipping or pick up from my Seattle studio.
These works reflect the subtle power of transformation — in life, in art, and in the spaces we inhabit. They bring warmth, light, and a sense of quiet energy into interiors, making them ideal anyone who values the emotional impact of abstract art.
